Patient Led. Mission Driven.
The Cerebral Venous Foundation is a nonprofit that aims to improve the treatment and understanding of disorders of the cerebral venous system.
The Cerebral Venous System = the system of veins carrying a patient’s blood from their brain, out of their head, through their neck, and back to the heart.
The need we serve
Despite the critical role of blood outflow from the brain, problems with the cerebral venous system are not well known or understood. Patients frequently present with complex neurological symptoms and multi-system involvement that may not be readily attributed to a common venous origin.
Cerebral Venous Foundation was established to improve the lives of patients suffering from cerebral venous disorders by improving education & understanding, building a strong community to support patients and providers, and advancing research in this space.

-
We are working on the following goals:
Providing easy, organized access to relevant medical literature, videos, and other publicly available educational resources on CV disorders.
Developing additional, easy-to-understand materials to aid understanding of CV symptoms, diagnostics, and treatment considerations.
Coordinate and support medical lectures, seminars/webinars, and other events that increase awareness & understanding of CV disorders.
-
We have begun to build a CV community for patients & providers by:
Building a list of medical providers in different specialties that are interested in treating CV disorders;
Gathering information to start support groups for patients and their families/caregivers;
Launching an online presence with this website and a social media presence to raise awareness about CV disorders (and related conditions).
-
We are gathering information about the cerebral venous areas in need of further medical research now, with the ultimate goal of funding the necessary research with grants.
-
As a nonprofit, fundraising is essential to all our other goals. We are working now to identify partners, sponsors, and individuals willing to aid our efforts via donations of tax-deductible funds.
*All fundraising leads are welcome!
